The Squirrel Family Friendly Pub

My family was invited to a child’s 1st birthday party at a pub today. My initial reaction was – oh no – how on earth am I going to keep 3 boys entertained for a couple of hours? Well, although admittedly we had the weather on our side, it turned out to be a great venue :)

The pub, called The Squirrel, is just off the A3 not far from Guildford (and by the by quite close to Cheryl Cole’s house). It has lots of parking and it is divided into several different areas. There are some comfy seats on the verandah and then plenty of table benches spread amongst a split level grass area. Most importantly for families there is a really lovely outdoor play area with swings, a slide, a climbing frame and occasionally a bouncy castle. My boys had an absolute ball charging around all afternoon and I was pleased to be able to have an (almost) uninterrupted conversation with friends. I noticed that the pub also has baby changing facilities, a children’s menu and highchairs.

The only thing to watch out for are some nettles up near the climbing frame. My 3 year old needed a wee, pulled down his trousers and managed to fall bottom first into some nettles (ouch!). He had rather a sore backside for a while. Having said that the manager was charming; he apologised, explained how they were trying to get rid of the nettles and offered some ointment to soothe my son’s behind.

All in all we had a lovely afternoon out and I recommend The Squirrel if you happen to be in that neck of the woods.

LittleLegends is Back from the dead!

Hooray – I have finally fixed this blog so I am officially back!

Things have been very quiet because first the main site broke and then I managed to break the blog when I tried to fix the site myself (oops). Anyway, it has become painfully obvious that I don’t have the technical skills to fix the main site so I have decided it is time to bring in an expert. Hopefully everything will be back to normal in the near future.

It is great to be able to post again after just over a year of being absent … so watch this place as I will now be posting more regularly.
